"October Storm"

Nick Owen - San Diego, CA:

Nick captured these storm clouds at the BMWCCA Oktoberfest 2010.   Nick makes his living keeping BMW's running at top performance and is also President of The BMW Car Club of America San Diego Chapter.  He told us "This chapter  holds just over 1600 members of the total 70,000+ BMWCCA members nationwide. This non-profit organization was founded back in the 1970s by a group of BMW enthusiasts out of Boston, MA. With support from BMW North America, and other like minded BMW enthusiasts, the BMW Car Club has grown into over 60 chapters across the country. The BMW Club is a social club that puts on events that allow you the ability to enjoy your BMW to your desire while being surrounded by like-minded individuals. "INTERMOUTAIN Concours d'Elegance" Original

In late December 2010, My new business division A U T O C O M started to develop a new logo design for Mr. Chris Purdum president of the INTERMOUTAIN Concours d'Elegance, located in Salt Lake City, Utah. When developing the design the main focus was the look of the logo which was to have the "look of class". The other element I had to work with was that Chris wanted the work of Tony Sikorski in the logo.  Tony is an award-winning artist with a penchant for cars — particularly, 1930s Formula 1 and vintage racing vehicles. With the blessing of Mr. Sikorski, I used one of his sculptures and turn it into line art. And still maintain the beautiful craftsmanship of his work. In the end and several revisions later the INTERMOUTAIN Concours d'Elegance logo was born. But what makes this logo design so special to me is this was the very first logo design for A U T O C O M and I was recently surprised to hear from Mr.Purdum that the INTERMOUTAIN Concours d'Elegance is now a official sponsor of the World Race 2011 . And the design of the new logo which I developed will be placed on over 21 cars going from New York to Pairs. I love American history and to be apart of a history in the making is like a dream come true.  And he made a little"green" too ;)

Life Expectancy

So it’s 2012. Humanity creeps and crawls along into another calendar year, one that brings with it some serious considerations if you are in to Nostradamus the Predictor (1503-1556) who seemed to confirm what the Mayan’s put in place- the end of the world. I agree with them both the end of the world is imminent, that’s why life expectancy is vital to being alive.

How long our biological human suit sustains itself depends on more factors that we could count. I often thing that buried deep in our physical and spiritual DNA lies a bar code of sorts that has a slew of numbers that represent when we got here, certain ages we are really going remember and our personally selected expiration date. Most of us motor around pretending to be alive, pretending to be awake, pretending to be involved when the truth is we are skimming the surface of our existence until one of those numbers slides through the scanner and bam! Wake Up call… We stay awake for a bit reeling from the job loss or illness or divorce or death only to be lulled back into our functional comas when in fact those moments are sent to make sure we stay awake as fully as possible. Or not.

The life expectancy in the United States biologically is just about 78 years or 28,470 days give or take depending on how you count. We all know our arrival date and celebrate that once a year, but none of us know our exit date that can arrive at any moment and therein lies the secret to living, using the inevitable end as a spur for new beginnings.

Life Expectancy is not just about how long you are here. It’s about being fully engaged in the process, for what you expect of life is what life will return to you and that end of the world stuff? It’s true. The world ends for someone, somewhere every day-and you don’t need to be a prophet to know that. Begin again right now, right where you are.

Internet Explorer always asks me; what do you want to do next? But I never answer. I just type in my "destination" and mindlessly peck through my tasks and curiosities. Today as we near the close of another year, I choose to answer… I wanted my coffee topped with whipped cream, caramel and cinnamon. So I did without regret or worry of what the calorie count has risen to. I want to stop burdening myself with regret and worry over nonsensical things. I want to get to know some people better and I know some are better forgotten. I want to find the secret to inner peace, the key to success and joy and then share the secrets until they are no secret, but common knowledge. I want to forge fearlessly into the future and save the world or at least the part of it within my reach. I want you to realize your own potential and I want you to smile :) Happy New Year! DMT
